Olafur Eliasson is widely recognizsed internationally for creating works that combine art, science and philosophy to explore human perception and the relationship between the individual and the natural world. His work challenges the traditional notion of art as a static object, promoting immersive experiences that stimulate the public through visual, tactile and even olfactory stimuli. Using technical devices, principles of physics, mechanics and optics, Eliasson creates installations with the aim of building a dialogdialogue between the work and the viewer. The Colour Spiral sculpture - Colour Spiral exemplifies Olafur Eliasson's innovative approach. Created in 2005, the work consists of four twisted strips of stainless steel, each with a distinct colorcolour - black, green and red - and a motor at the top that generates rotation. As the sculpture slowly rotates around its central axis, the strips draw coloredcoloured spirals in space and offer the viewer constantly changing perspectives, creating a dynamic and hypnotic visual experience. This piece reflects the recurring themes in Eliasson's work, such as research into geometry, perpetual movement and optical illusions, and reveals the artist's interest in translating scientific concepts into artistic experiences that challenge conventional perception. Set in a broader context of his research, - Colour Spiral dialogues with other projects by the artist that explore simple forms and technical devices to create works that are deeply connected to social and cultural reflections. The spiral, with its fluid and continuous movement, can be seen as a metaphor for the flow of time and the constant transformation of reality. Thus, tThis work thus not only stimulates the senses, but also invites the public to reflect on the relationship between art, science and our understanding of the world.
