This small drawing by Dominguez Alvarez, albeit untitled and undated, is probably an initial work, given the simplicity of its stroke and composition. His first drawings were made in the 1920's, when he began his collaboration with Contemporânea magazine. The theme is typical of this artist, who gave special attention to urban or rural landscapes made of different planes, frequently peopled by small scale mysterious figures.
With a soft graphite stroke, the drawing portraits a small church, with a basic façade, next to a bell tower with a clock, both of which have a Christian cross on top. The building appears isolated and only some soft undulating lines mark small mountains in the background indicating the context of a rural landscape. In front of the church we see three figures with their bodies completely covered by what looks like a draping, in which the stripes that give it dimension suggest movement toward the door, which is open, since one half is dark and the other half is brighter, suggesting light.
