Afonso Cabral (Lisbon, 1986) has been a constant, albeit sometimes discreet (as he likes it) presence on the Lisbon music scene for the last 15 years – whether with his band You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown, as part of Bruno Pernadas’ bands Minta & The Brook Trout or Mais Alto! or as a songwriter for other performers. In the latter field, “Anda Estragar-me os Planos” stands out, written in partnership with Francisca Cortesão for the 2018 Song Festival for the voice of Joana Barra Vaz and later reinterpreted by several singers, such as Salvador Sobral and Tim Bernardes.
After Morada, in 2019, he released his second solo album, Demorar, at the end of 2024 — an album of new songs with Cabral's voice at the centre and featuring Japanese artist Shugo Tokumaru and Manuela Azevedo from Clã. Demorar has been very well received by critics, often appearing on lists of the best albums of the year, notably in 3rd place for Blitz and Radar and 11th for Antena 3, among many others.
