Alexéi Tolpygo and Carlos Maria Trindade Duo

When Alexéi Tolpygo (violinist with the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra and author of several solo projects) and Carlos Maria Trindade (keyboardist, music producer, and one of the authors of the famous groups Heróis do Mar and Madredeus, in addition to a long solo career) met about ten years ago, they immediately realized that they had a shared past and musical aesthetics. In fact, both had, to varying degrees, a classical musical education, and both consider themselves “dissidents” of this genre, creating their own music using synthesizers as a multi-timbral palette and a tool for composing and arranging music.

The concept of this project is based on a very eclectic repertoire, ranging from original songs to interpretations of Baroque pieces for “fake harpsichord” and violin, as well as environments in which Alexéi's electric violin and Carlos Maria and Alexéi's synthesizers explore a new sound dimension, with pieces written expressly for this duo. Our group is also open to participants. Although the core consists of the two musicians mentioned above, the project has other collaborations on the horizon.
