ELAS and Jazz pay tribute to the most famous vocal trio in jazz history, the Andrew Sisters. Mariana Norton, Joana Machado, and Marta Hugon recreate the unmistakable vocal harmonies of sisters Patty, Laverne, and Maxene, revisiting some of their greatest hits—songs that earned them the nickname America’s Sweethearts during World War II. The Andrew Sisters sold millions of records and remain a reference, having influenced artists as diverse as The Supremes, Destiny’s Child, Christina Aguilera, Bette Midler, and Manhattan Transfer.
The concert will take place on February 27 at àCapela – Live Arts&Bar, celebrating this musical heritage in the sound created by these three Portuguese voices. A show that brings to the present the bold and vibrant vocal style, inspired by the metallic timbre of the great jazz orchestras that marked radio and cinema in the 20th century. An unmissable night for lovers of jazz and vocal harmonies.
