Filho da Mãe (Rui Carvalho) began his solo recording career with a release as part of FNAC’s Novos Talentosprogramme. Six albums followed, along with several contributions to compilation records. He decided to build his professional life — which, at first, he imagined would be short-lived — entirely around strings vibrating on a piece of wood. And so it has been since 2009/2010.
His latest album, Terra Dormente (Omnichord Records, 2022), collided head-on with the pandemic and left its mark. A long hiatus followed, but the desire to make a new record never went away, always hovering somewhere between his mind and his fingertips. Set for release in 2027, this new work cannot help but look back at everything that has happened and everyone involved along the way, while keeping its eyes firmly focused on the future.
For this concert, the present remains an open question, bringing together new material and older pieces that have surfaced and slipped through the cracks over the years.
