This group explores standard jazz melodies and themes, seeking different forms of dialogue. Through improvisation and the creation of sound textures, the group builds a space for listening and experimentation with a personal and open language.
Bio Maria João Vieira Leite
Maria João Vieira Leite (b. 2001) is a singer and saxophonist. She began her musical studies at the age of 7 and, in 2012, she entered the Calouste Gulbenkian Conservatory of Music in Braga. She has a degree in Music – Saxophone from the University of Aveiro and is currently in her final year of a Master's degree in Sound and Image Arts at the Caldas da Rainha School of Arts and Design, as well as attending regular voice classes at the Luiz Villas-Boas Jazz School (Hot Clube de Portugal) in Lisbon.
In 2025, she participated in Steve Reich's Music for 18 Musicians project with the Drumming GP group; gave a solo performance at the Eco Cycle, promoted by the Robalo association; participated in the Extremo Festival with composer Maria W Horn; and participated in the Barlos Festival as a guest artist in residence.
