Márcia began her musical career in 2009 with the EP ‘A Pele que Há em Mim’ (The Skin That Is in Me), followed by the albums ‘Dá’ (Give), “Casulo” (Cocoon), ‘Quarto Crescente’ (Waxing Moon) and ‘Vai e Vem’ (Come and Go). In 2019, she won the José da Ponte award from the Portuguese Society of Authors, and over the years she has received three nominations for the SIC/Caras Golden Globes, with the songs ‘Tempestade’ (Storm), “Insatisfação” (Dissatisfaction) and ‘A pele que há em mim (Quando o dia entardeceu)’ (The Skin That Is in Me (When the Day Ended)), the latter a duet with J.P. Simões.
After debuting in cities such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, Márcia devoted herself to editing her first book - ‘As estradas são para ir’ (The roads are for going) - a combination of her illustrations, song lyrics, chronicles and shared thoughts, for which she was awarded the aRitmar (Galicia) and Bertrand prizes. At the same time, she contributed her writing to various publications, notably the weekly chronicles in JN during the state of emergency declared due to the 2020 pandemic.
In 2022, she produced and released her fifth album, Picos e Vales, which she presented throughout the country.
In 2025, she released ‘Ana Márcia’, which she defines as a ‘return home’. The album is divided into three chapters and explores the place of childhood in the past in the first; the young woman who finds love and heartbreak in the second, and who discovers, in motherhood, a return to her own childhood through the magic of her children's childhood. The album features duets with Catarina Salinas, Jorge Palma, and Sérgio Godinho.
Márcia is a rare example of artistic consistency, standing out for her carefully crafted music, her lyrics and her voice that speaks to the most intimate secrets within each of us, which has already established her as one of the greatest talents in Portuguese-language songwriting.
