Following the year that marked the centenary of the birth of the acclaimed Portuguese composer Carlos Paredes, guitarists and composers José Peixoto and Nuno Cintrão pay tribute to the immortal legacy of his music. Drawing on the references, inspirations and collaborations from their work as the duo Combinatorium, with whom they released the album Fragmentos Imaginários (2023), the musicians explore and reinvent the soundscape of the master of the Portuguese guitar in an album comprising 10 tracks (five written by Carlos Paredes and the rest by the duo), released on 10 October 2025 by Galileo Music.
Divided into two chapters: VISITAS and DIÁLOGOS (each with five tracks), the work contains a first set of original pieces by Carlos Paredes – songs such as “Verdes Anos” and “Canto de Embalar” – with creative arrangements, resulting from their identity as a duo. The second features pieces composed from the music of Carlos Paredes or popularised by the composer, such as the track “Canção de Alcipe”.
VISITA is an encounter with Carlos Paredes, in the very essence of the act of visiting: getting to know and being with someone, and the effect that encounter has on us as a greeting and a memory. This reinforces the desire for a tribute in dialogue with the creation of new musical interpretations, based on the fusion of languages brought by the classical and electric guitars, extending the challenge contained in Paredes’ songs, which were already profoundly innovative.
