Pedro Jóia is one of the most prestigious Portuguese guitarists and composers of recent decades. His debut album was released in 1996, with ‘Gaudiano’, followed by “Sueste” (1999), ‘Variações Sobre Carlos Paredes’ (2000) and ‘Jacarandá’ (2003). In 2008, he received the Carlos Paredes Award for his album ‘À Espera de Armandinho’. In 2020, he received the same award again, this time for his album “Zeca”. ‘Mosaico’ (2024) is his latest album, the cornerstone of his current solo tour of Portugal and the world.
Throughout his career, Pedro Jóia has performed several times as a soloist, in duets or trios, with various orchestras and chamber ensembles, and has collaborated with prominent names in international music, particularly in Brazil. In Portugal, he has accompanied great performers, exploring new approaches to traditional fado. Since 2010, he has been part of the Resistência collective.
This show is part of a cycle of monthly solo concerts at MACAM promoted by Locomotiva Azul, with a focus on promoting and disseminating the work of its artists.
