André Silva

André Silva was born in 1980, in Venezuela. He completed the degree in Fine Arts at the Fine Arts Faculty of the Oporto University, in 2005.



In 2004, he was a grantee of the Erasmus Programme at the Facultad de Bellas Artes de la Universidad del Pais Vasco. He later completed the Specialization Course in Artistic Interventions in Public Spaces and Site Specific Work Production, at the Lusófona University, in 2009. He has been showing his work regularly since 2005. Some of his exhibitions include: Palimpsesto, Sput&nik the window, Oporto, 2022; Entre o espaço e o poder, apanha-me se puderes, Galeria Palácio Cadaval, Évora, 2020; TRABALHO CAPITAL # GREVE GERAL a new exhibition-installation for one day and one night, curated by Paulo Mendes based on the Norlinda and José Lima Collection at the Centro de Arte Oliva, São João da Madeira, 2020; Periplos/Arte Portugués de hoy, Cac Málaga, Málaga, 2016. André Silva was one of the winning artists at the 22nd International Art Biennial of Vila Nova de Cerveira, in 2022; he was a finalist of the 2009 Young Painters Fidelidade Mundial Prize, and in 2001 he won the prize for installation at the Young Artists’01 exhibition.



His work is represented in various collections, among which the Luiz Augusto Teixeira Freitas-Wood Drawings Collection, PLMJ Foundation, CAC Málaga, Imago Mundi Collection, Joaquim Ferro Collection, Marin.Gaspar Collection and the Cerveira Biennial Foundation.
