Jorge Macchi

Jorge Macchi (1963, Buenos Aires, Argentina) studied at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Through the use of recognizable daily objects like maps, music scores or newspaper pages, and their formal reorganization, Macchi creates a series of visual traps while simultaneously questioning the spectator’s perception.

In 2001, he obtained the research grant in plastic arts – John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, New York, USA. He attended artistic residencies at the Cité des Arts, France; Schloss Plueshow, Germany; Duende Artists Initiative, Netherlands; Delfina Studio Trust, United Kingdom, among others. He represented Argentina at the 51st Venice Biennale, with the work Ascensión, in collaboration with Edgardo Rudnitzky (1956, Buenos Aires), an artist with whom he worked in various exhibitory projects.
