Manuel Caeiro
Manuel Caeiro is a Portuguese artist born in Évora, in 1975. He graduated from the Fine Arts Faculty of the Lisbon University and his trajectory reveals the interest and interdisciplinary action between drawing, painting and architecture. From figurative idealisation to abstractionism, he creates three-dimensional or sculptural spaces, using the repetition of shapes, geometric contours and super positions of the pictorial surface, or even the wear of the surface. He started showing his work in Portugal regularly in 1999, and he had various exhibitions in Germany, Brazil, Holland, Belgium, Spain, Switzerland and the United States. Among the most important: Manuel Caeiro, Palácio Vila Flor, Guimarães, 2010, 33’ de fama, CARPE DIEM Arte e Pesquisa, Lisbon, 2011, Achieving Shadows, Hunchetoot Galerie, Berlin, Germany, 2014. From his group exhibitions, the following stand out: Terceira Metade, Rio de Janeiro Modern Art Museum, 2011, or Los ojos de las vacas, Ponce+Robles Art Gallery, Madrid, in 2014. Caeiro’s work is represented in various museums and collections, such as the PLMJ Foundation or Culturgest.
