Carved brick
This work is designed and created based on sensations that I have experienced in unfinished or transitional spaces, as well as in relation to abandoned construction materials. On the one hand, I explore the idea of a home built under these material conditions, and on the other, the weather and the landscape that is generated from them.
Regarding the act of carving brick, it is inevitable to think about the type of urban landscape that is formed around this practice, often linked to the consumption of bazuco and the traces it leaves on the walls. My relationship with this action is mediated by the story of my mother, who told me that during her pregnancy she had a craving to eat brick. There is something in this material, linked to the digestive, that deeply disturbs me and is difficult for me to understand on a narrative level. For this reason, I focus more on the craft of scraping, and from there a writing and figuration emerges that helps me inhabit that indeterminacy.
