Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions govern the subscription and use of the MACAM Membership Card and the benefits associated with the membership programme.
The benefits, discounts and activities mentioned in this document may be modified or adjusted by MACAM whenever necessary, depending on cultural programming, service availability or operational conditions.
1. General Framework
The MACAM Membership Card is issued by Lunatejo – Gestão de Hotéis e Museus, S.A., headquartered at Rua da Junqueira nº 5A, 1300-342 Lisbon, corporate registration number 501691189, the entity responsible for managing MACAM – Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art + Hotel.
2. About MACAM
MACAM is a cultural venue in Lisbon that brings together the Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art and the MACAM Hotel.
It is located in the former Palácio Condes da Ribeira Grande, within the cultural axis of Alcântara-Belém.
The museum collection includes modern and contemporary artworks assembled by collector Armando Martins over more than fifty years.
The venue includes permanent and temporary exhibitions, the MURMUR project dedicated to emerging artists, as well as the Contemporâneo – Food&Wine restaurant, the MACAM Café, the performing arts venue àCapela – Live Arts&Bar, and the MACAM Shop.
3. MACAM Membership Card
The MACAM Membership Card is an annual membership programme that allows the holder to benefit from advantages associated with MACAM exhibitions and activities.
4. Access and Membership Conditions
1. Membership shall be open to natural persons aged 18 years or over.
2. Registration shall be carried out in person at the MACAM Shop, and only one registration per user shall be permitted, including activation.
The MACAM Shop is located next to the Museum Ticket Office. Admission is free and it can be accessed via Rua da Junqueira 66, 1300-343, Lisbon. It is open every day from 10.00 am to 7.30 pm.
Required data: For the purposes of identity verification, the following information shall be required: name, email, date of birth, tax identification number (NIF), and presentation of a Citizen Card or other valid identification document.
3. The card shall be issued in physical format.
5. Price and Validity
The MACAM Membership Card costs €60 per year and is valid for 12 months from the activation date.
6. Nature of the Card
The MACAM Membership Card is personal and non-transferable, and for the exclusive use of its holder.
The card does not constitute a payment method nor guarantee permanent priority access to the museum.
7. Membership Benefits
The MACAM Membership Card includes the following benefits:
• Free admission to all exhibitions for one year, from the date of purchase and acceptance of the Terms and Conditions
• Complimentary MACAM Tote Bag
• 15% discount at the MACAM Shop on selected items
• Access to special offers and exclusive discounts on selected programmes
• Regular updates on MACAM’s programme, activities and special launches
• Invitations to exclusive members’ events, previews and talks
• 5% discount on holiday workshops for direct family members (limited to a maximum of one child) and on selected workshops
• 10% discount at the MACAM Café
• 10% discount on accommodation at the MACAM Hotel for direct bookings based on the rates indicated on the website (maximum of 10 nights per year) reservas@macam.pt
• Access to the possibility of hosting events in selected MACAM spaces (subject to consultation and proposal): eventos@macam.pt
The membership card is personal, non-transferable, and for the exclusive use of its holder.
Benefits may be subject to availability or capacity limitations.
8. Limitations and Access Conditions
Access to MACAM may be limited due to maximum capacity or safety reasons.
MACAM reserves the right to temporarily close galleries, or other spaces, for conservation of artworks, installation of exhibitions, maintenance works or private events.
9. Purchase and Activation
The MACAM Membership Card may be purchased at the MACAM Shop, located next to the museum ticket office. Access via Rua da Junqueira 66, in Lisbon, and open every day from 10am to 7pm.
If the card is given as a gift, the holder must activate it by completing the requested information at the MACAM Shop.
10. Renewal and Cancellation
Renewal of the MACAM Membership Card is not automatic but may be completed upon payment of a new annual fee.
Cancellation does not entitle the holder to a refund of the membership fee paid.

12. Personal Data Protection
Lunatejo – Gestão de Hotéis e Museus, S.A. is the entity responsible for the collection and processing of personal data within the scope of the MACAM Membership Programme.
Personal data collected during the membership registration may include, among others, name, date of birth, tax identification number, country of residence, email address and phone number.
Personal data will be processed for the following purposes:
Management of the MACAM Membership Programme, including member identification, issuance and management of the membership card and control of access to associated benefits.
Member relationship management, including responding to enquiries or communications made by the member.
Institutional communication and promotion of MACAM programming, including newsletters, invitations to exhibitions, previews, events and cultural activities related to MACAM.
Compliance with legal obligations, whenever required by law or by competent authorities.
For communication and event management purposes, MACAM may use specialized digital platforms for contact and event management.
Personal data will be stored only for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes described above or for the period required by law.
Members may exercise their rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction or objection to the processing of their personal data and may withdraw their consent for institutional communications at any time.

13. Cultural Programme
MACAM develops a cultural programme including exhibitions, events and educational activities.
14. Limitation of Liability
MACAM shall not be held liable for temporary interruptions to programming or activities due to technical issues or force majeure.
15. Use of the Membership Card
The membership card is personal and non-transferable and must be presented, whenever requested, together with an identification document of its holder.
MACAM reserves the right to suspend or cancel membership in case of misuse or breach of these Terms and Conditions.
16. Communication with Members
Members may receive institutional communications related to the membership programme.
17. Validity of the Document
These Terms and Conditions enter into force on the date of publication.
18. Prevailing Language
In the event of discrepancies between the Portuguese and English versions, the Portuguese version shall prevail.
19. Applicable Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by Portuguese law.
Any dispute shall fall under the jurisdiction of the courts of Lisbon.
