Schools and Groups
The Schools and Groups Program is aimed at all levels of education, from pre-school to higher education, as well as senior academies. Each visit is carefully planned to provide an immersive experience, both in the permanent and temporary exhibitions and in the spaces of the building itself.
MACAM's team of mediators is ready to ensure that each visit is rich and inspiring, helping to make your visit to the museum an unforgettable experience.

Workshop
Places of Attention: Laboratory for Artistic Exploration
Comprising two independent yet complementary workshops, this arts education program can be taken separately or together. Drawing on the MACAM Collection, the program explores different ways of engaging with art.
First Moment
Imaginary Museums
This workshop invites participants to collectively explore the works in the MACAM Collection, encouraging expression, storytelling, sharing, and the creation of narratives. It also includes a component aimed at deepening knowledge of artistic productions, formats, artists, styles, and periods, which promotes the construction of a collective meaning while, at the same time, deconstructing the conventional idea of a museum visit.
Dates: Nov. 14, 2026 (Sat.) and Feb. 27, 2027 (Sat.)
Time: 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Capacity: 6–18 participants
Price: €20.00
Second Moment
Maps of the Body and the Imagination
In this workshop, we explore and interweave body, space, memory, and imagination through practices of conscious movement, mindful observation, and collective creation. Drawing on a selection of works from the collection, participants are invited
to find expression for the sensations, ideas, and subtleties they encounter, through gesture, movement, and composition. The experience of exchange between the body and art will give rise to performative landscapes that blend perception, subjectivity, and the constant encounter with the other.
The work developed in the workshop may continue in the performative tour to be presented at the Jardins Abertos Festival on May 24.
Dates: April 10 and 17, 2027 (Sat.)
Time: 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Capacity: 6–18 participants
Price: €20.00
Combined price (2 workshops): €35
Partnerships
“Sentir Mais”
The “Sentir Mais” project is part of a pilot program developed in partnership with the Low Vision
and Visual Rehabilitation Unit at Egas Moniz Hospital. This initiative aims to bridge the fields of the arts and health, promoting the joint creation of innovative and inclusive educational experiences for the educational community. In addition, “Sentir Mais” seeks to increase knowledge about the visual arts, visual health, visual system disorders, and low vision. To achieve this goal, MACAM’s Mediation and Participation team relied on the input of healthcare professionals and patients to develop inclusive activities using simulations and accessible multisensory formats.
The three tours, which include low-vision simulation activities, are marked in the program with a specific symbol, which appears next to the respective description.
+ ESCOLA
Art Thinking* (Arte como pensamento)
If you are interested in developing an ongoing project with MACAM—in any subject area and at any educational level—we are available to work with you to design and implement a program to be carried out throughout the school year, incorporating periodic visits and activities tailored to each group. To this end, please send us a proposal in advance that includes the topic, general objectives, and a work schedule, so we can review it and schedule a meeting.
*Concept: L. Camnitzer, M. Acaso, and C. Megías.
PASSAPORTE ESCOLAR
On May 21, 2026, a partnership agreement was signed between MACAM and the Lisbon City Council as part of the “Passaporte Escolar” project. This initiative aims to complement learning processes, particularly by developing or supplementing the content of curricular areas at different educational levels, thereby contributing to the development of skills and the promotion of the city’s heritage. The program also includes transportation assistance to partner locations, subject to availability. Registration for activities must be done via email: mep@macam.pt
