Between Threads and Conversations | Workshops: Embroideries in sight

What unites us? Embroidery is not merely a decorative technique, but also a social phenomenon and a form of contemporary artistic expression, capable of conveying a strong conceptual and political message. “Between Stitches and Conversations” creates a space for encounter, where participants will have the opportunity to explore and reflect on the various uses and interpretations of the practice of embroidery. They will also learn to execute some Portuguese embroidery stitches, which will allow them to express their individual perspectives on “the right to beautiful things,” in relation to and in dialogue with the works of art in the MACAM collection. Together, we will embroider pages of a book woven by the collective to be shared later.

Between Lines and Conversations includes hands-on embroidery sessions and conversations with guests from fields as diverse as anthropology and fashion.

For these workshops, no prior embroidery experience is necessary.
