Jon Pylypchuk

Jon Pylypchuk (1972, Winnipeg, Canada) studied at Yale University Summer School of Music and Art, New Haven, Connecticut, USA (1996), has a BFA from the University of Manitoba, Canada (1997) and a MFA from the University of California, Los Angeles, EUA (2001). In Manitoba he co-founded the collective known as Royal Art Lodge in 1996 with the artists Michael Dumontier (1974, Winnipeg), Marcel Dzama (1974, Winnipeg), Neil Farber (1975, Winnipeg), Drue Langlois (1972, Winnipeg) and Adrian Williams (1979, Portland, USA).



Pylypchuk is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting, sculpture, installation, and video. Using simple materials (fake leather, wood, fabric, metal plates, beer cans, electric lamps, polyurethane foam, etc.), Pylypchuk reinterprets the gluing and DIY practices derived from Art Brut.
